The LGBTTTIQ+ community marched in an atmosphere of struggle for freedom, justice and dignity (Video)

MEXICO CITY (proceso.com.mx) LGBTTTIQ+

The meeting point was at the Ángel de la Independencia, since 7:00 a.m. this Saturday, police officers from the Mexico City Citizen Security Secretariat (SSCCDMX) were already getting ready to receive the 150,000 attendees of the March for LGBTTTIQ+ Pride.

At 9:00 a.m. you could already savor the start of the 45th edition of PRIDE, a mobilization that does not discriminate when summoning all kinds of people.

Carnivalesque, however, does not stop craving politics. Among the euphoria typical of a celebration, in bodies and banners, slogans of social demand were appreciated: “People with HIV have the same rights”, “Love is a right”, “Freedom, pride and dignity”.

Of all ages, for many of the attendees the scars left by the fight for the recognition of the homosexual community remain latent, some remember that July 26, 1978 in which some thirty homosexuals demonstrated as part of the Homosexual Liberation Front From Mexico City.

Mobilization is many things, but above all, an opportunity to explore and release creativity that is often limited by the judicious gaze of a society that deep down does not fully digest the possibility of opening up to sexual diversity.

Attendees show their creative abilities with costumes and banners that are a feast of colors and textures that colonize from the ground to the air. With glitter, feathers and phosphorescence, they manage to access a reality encapsulated in the hours that the mobilization lasts.

The pass over Reforma remained firm despite the warm embrace of a sun that reached 26 degrees.

The CDMX Health Secretariat (SEDESA) installed hydration modules along the route that stood out for offering a free service, in contrast to the street vendors who offered perhaps more refreshing drinks for many.

You could get beers for $40, blueberry-flavored vodka drinks called “azulitos” for $70 and $100, shots for up to $10.

Occasionally, a particular odor could be sniffed, known to several who said: “The devil’s legs are already burning.”

“Try it, so you can see that it’s good, then see if you buy”, argued some people who appeared in the crowd offering joints and pipes.

The presence of the 2,300 police officers deployed by the SSC was indifferent to the sale of alcoholic beverages and drugs.

The gastronomic offer was also diverse, there was fruit, banderillas, Brazilian swords, French fries, corn, tlacoyos, basket tacos, wings and many other things.

Nor did the political inclinations of the LGBTTTIQ+ community go unnoticed, some of the attendees wore t-shirts in support of the candidate for the presidential candidacy of Morena, Marcelo Ebrard.

“He is the only one who has not raised our flag for raising it, just remember the approval of equal marriage, he said that trans women go to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, our community is not in the proposals of Sheinbaum, Adán Augusto , our flag has never been touched, not even by mistake,” declared one of two attendees for Process.

He highlighted the presence of the Rainbow Movement of People with Disabilities, with the slogan: “Pride and dignity to make disability visible.”

The transgender community was also present, Patricia León, a member of this contingent, declared: “Gays became visible since 1979/1980, transgender people seemed to not exist, we were just beginning to emerge and social work has not been done so that we see how part of your community”

Regarding the presence of different brands and companies, Patricia pointed out that: “This started with a political revolt, it did not start as a party, a characteristic of capitalism is to commodify everything it finds, Rius said: They don’t sell their mother because they don’t have her . And here they are back.”

Some of the posters that were read had slogans such as: “Out with PRIDE brands” and “Pride is not for sale.”

The LGBTTTIQ+ pride march joyfully arrived at the capital’s Zócalo, where two stages arranged in front of the National Palace were waiting, to close this celebration in favor of love, in all its presentations.
