Sports Writing, May 15 (EFE).- Mexican designated hitter Joey Meneses displayed his offensive arsenal this Monday in which he went perfect in four opportunities at bat and produced four runs to command the victory by beating 10-3 of the Nationals of Washington over the New York Mets.

With the win, the Nationals split their four-game series with the Mets into two wins apiece.

Meneses opened the scoring in the first inning with a double to left field, producing a run for the Nationals.

The Mets tied it 1-1 in the second inning with a single to right field by Jeff McNeil, who brought Starling Marte to the register.

The equality in the match did not last long and Meneses was present again in the third chapter and, with his second two-base hit, brought the second run for the Nationals to the scoreboard.

The attack of those from Washington in that third inning continued with a high sacrifice from the Venezuelan Keibert Ruiz, who brought the Dominican Luis García to the plate.

In the fourth, first baseman Dominic Smith scored on an error on catcher Francisco Álvarez’s throw and García hit an undisputed drive to left field, driving the fifth run (5-1) for the Nationals.

Those from Washington extended the advantage in the fifth with a hit from Smith, which allowed Ruiz to step on the rubber.

The Mets reacted in the sixth inning and with a sacrifice fly by Tommy Pham they achieved their second run in the legs of Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor.

The Nationals didn’t wait to respond, adding two more rounds at the bottom of that same sixth inning, with a solo home run by CJ Abrams and the second by hit inside the infield by Meneses.

In the seventh, Smith hit a sacrifice fly to the right field zone, driving Jeimer Candelario to the buzzer.

Meneses was not satisfied with the three producer hits he had connected in the game and in the eighth he added his third double of the game, towing García with the tenth round for the Nationals.

Brandon Nimmo drove in the Mets’ third run in the ninth.

Lefty Patrick Corbin (2-5) pitched six two-run innings for the win.

The loss for the Mets went to starter David Peterson (1-5), who was attacked for six runs in five innings.

For the Nationals, Meneses finished with four hits, including three doubles and four RBIs, García had two runs scored and one RBI and Ruiz left with one run scored and one produced.

For the Mets, Marte and Lindor scored a run.
