Magdeburg (ots)

If you look at how Saxony-Anhalt has dealt with the acute shortage of teachers in recent years, this innovation is actually logical: Anyone who wants to become a teacher in secondary schools as a lateral entrant will no longer even have to have a high school diploma or a university degree. Instead, it should be sufficient to have relevant experience in certain professions – this is a clear departure from the hiring philosophy in the Ministry of Education.

The new experiment at the secondary schools is unquestionably courageous – whether it is really suitable as a solution to the acute shortage of teachers must now be examined honestly and critically right from the start. Neither students nor new teachers would be helped with an unsuccessful emergency solution.
