“I really don’t want to get involved in the relationship with Paul,” Hans begins a conversation with Susanne: “Linn told me what happened between him and his family at the time.” And then he enlightens her. Susanne is shocked and says goodbye with “Thank you for telling me.”
Paul, whom she meets shortly afterwards in the restaurant, immediately notices that something is wrong. He asks her if everything is ok. “Are you okay? I dunno right now. My ex, who ended our relationship with an affair, tells me I fell in love with a man… Your wife’s best friend? Your daughters’ teacher? Really, Paul?”
An awkward situation for her boyfriend. But he defends himself: “I didn’t want to take the risk of introducing you to the man I was then.” He also provides an explanation. Old Paul had so little self-esteem that he needed constant validation from other women. “People can change, I’ve changed.” Will Susanne believe him?
