The General Director of the Metro, Guillermo Calderon reported that the presence of the National Guard in the stations of the Collective Transport System (STC) has benefited to reduce by 61% the criminal incidence in cable theft. Remembering that it was one of the main causes of the collision of two trains on January 7 on Line 3, which left one person dead and dozens injured.

In 2022, more than 4 kilometers of wiring were stolen. The director of the STC, Guillermo Calderón, pointed out that the trend is going down with the intervention of the National Guard
He explained that in the first 10 days of the month the theft of 530 linear meters of cable was recorded, which are equivalent to 3 thousand 710 kilograms. The presence of the National Guard managed to reduce thefts to 209 stolen meters, equivalent to 1,483 kilograms.
