The Prosecutor's Office opens an investigation into the Arequipa leader who proposed the creation of the "Republic of the South"

A few days after the announcement of the restart of the protests In several southern regions of the country, the Second Supranational Corporate Prosecutor’s Office Specialized against Organized Crime opened a preliminary investigation against the president of the Northern Cone Defense Front of Arequipa (Fredicon), Felipe Raymundo Domínguez Chávez, who promotes the creation of a ‘republic of the south‘, for the crime of attacking national sovereignty, among others.

In the tax transcript are the interviews that the aforementioned leader gave last week and in which he explained his intentions to separate Puno, Cusco, Ayacucho and the other southern regions of Peru, with the aim of forming a new territory of the hand of a new flag.

“The proposal is not mine, as I tell you, but I do share it, so I would be between Puno, Cusco, Tacna, Moquegua, Ayacucho, Madre de Dios, Apurímac, even Ica is being invited because things really get ugly, we cannot fight, with weapons, rifles, bullets, they are going to kill us . “If it has been done in some countries in Europe and Asia, why not us? We have all the riches, coast, mountains and jungle”, he pointed out at another time.

The Prosecutor’s Office seeks to punish the person investigated, since it is an act that violates article 43 of the Political Constitution, which explains that the Peruvian State is one and indivisible and its Government is unitary, representative and decentralized.

For the authorities it is a “promotion of organized, concerted and coordinated preparatory acts for the commission of a crime, that of making a part of the country independent”.

In the penal code it is considered an attack against the national integrity “the one who practices an act aimed at submitting the Republic, in whole or in part, to foreign domination or to make a part of it independent”, which will be punished with up to fifteen years in prison.

WHO IS FELIPE DOMINGUEZ?

Felipe Raymundo Domínguez Chávez is a social leader who in previous years called himself an “ultra-Fujimorista”, but who recently expressed his support for former President Pedro Castillo, even announcing that a Fredicon delegation would travel to Lima to mobilize in favor of the former president.

Domínguez Chávez also ran unsuccessfully for mayor of Cerro Colorado, in Arequipa. In his sworn statement that he submitted to the JNE, the leader stated two sentences handed down by the Judiciary: a suspended sentence of 4 years for crimes against means of transport and another also suspended for 3 years for usurpation of functions.
