Fresidark: Said of that with dark characteristics (whatever that means), but dangerously close to the strawberry… to the strawberry… to the very pop. As well as The Rasmus; although, then, it would be necessary to add to the definition: “Too powerful. Chingón”.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m., the lights in the Pepsi Center went out and “Todavía” by La Factoría began to play. Whyrrrrrr? She surely is one of Lauri Ylönen’s favorites… or she overheard it and said “n’ombre, with this one she’s going to turn the band on before our spectacular appearance on stage”…
So it was: before chanting very dark and painful verses like “We’ll walk through the darkness” de “First day of my life” o “I feel guilty / My words are empty” from “Guilty”, many of The Rasmus fans They sang (and completed) the success of the Panamanian group… whose lyrics, seeing it well, could be part of the repertoire of the Finns.
But hey, the above serves to point out that, lots of gothic attire among the attendees at the Pepsi Center (which looked packed), but the perceived atmosphere was far from mournful; starting with the vocalist of The Rasmus, who after concluding each of the songs, in which his voice was torn to interpret the songs in a way that was otherwise “reaching”, smiled, showing himself moved by the loving response from his fans.
The show began with the aforementioned “Firts day of my life” y “Guilty”, seguidas de “In my life”, “No fear”, “Paradise”, “Fireflies” y “Time to burn”. Only until the latter was there a pause in the intense presentation to ask the audience if anyone remembered when they played in the legendary and now-defunct Salón 21, around the early years of this century. Because, apparently not, but The Rasmus – founded in 1994 – is a band that can already be considered “classic”.
But the band’s years were not noticeable. Both up and down the stage. Above, in a row and without any interruption those led by Lauri Ylöen broke out a powerful setlist of 22 songs, in which the crushing and broken guitars were the constant, as well as the fast-paced quasi-orchestral arrangements that give those founded in Helsinki their shocking sound. Perfect example “Immortal” and that anthem of bullies called “Wonderman”.
Below, by a fan base made up of a bulk that was close to 40, but mixed with a large number of minors and young people accompanied by their parents. Everyone chanting and shouting from the beginning to the end of a show in which, of course, The Rasmus offered the moment of goosebumps when “Octuber & April” was performed, while the entire Pepsi Center was lit up with cell lamps of the excited and accommodating/pleased public.

The excitement was unleashed when bassist, Eero Heinonen, announced the songs from his 2008 hit record were coming. It was just a couple – “Justify” y “Livin’ a world without you” – but intense enough to leave everything ready to play the expected of the night: “In the Shadows”.
The concert closed withto the highly gothic and stunningly executed “Funeral song”, the evocative of Biblical themes “Jezebel” (as epic as a song that led the band to shine at Eurovision can be) and the soulful “Sail Away”.
That’s where the cover of “Ghostbusters” also sounded…?? Well, why not: The dark is not at odds with the pop, especially when the mix is done the way it is. The Rasmus. With them, saying fresidark acquires the level of “no, well yes, it’s cool.”
