Juarez City.- The state Secretary of Communications and Public Works (SCOP) announced the investment of 170 million pesos in the rehabilitation of 31 city streets, of which paving and resurfacing work has already begun on six.

“31 streets will be rehabilitated with an investment of 170 million pesos in asphalt and resurfacing, that is, more than 22 thousand linear meters. Of these, work is already underway on six streets. Next week it will continue in five and a contract is about to be signed for the remaining 20 streets,” said the head of that unit, Mario Vázquez Robles.

These are streets in depressed areas of the city, from the point of view of infrastructure, the official explained. Some of the neighborhoods served will be Riberas del Bravo, Azteca, Santa Rosa, Carlos Castillo Peraza, Mirador, San Antonio, San Felipe del Real, Hidalgo, Lindavista, Margaritas, Torreón, the Exhipódromo and Melchor Ocampo.

Meanwhile, the investment is made up of 80 million pesos that come from the Border Bridges Trust and another part comes from a loan obtained by the State Government just a few days ago, authorized by the state Congress, and that anticipates the resources of the Moat of Contributions for Social Infrastructure (FAIS), which will not generate debt, he assured.

Among the streets included in the work plan are Riveras de Peñasco, Soneto 154, Cartagena, Seville, March 21, Costa Rica, Panama, Tlaxcala, Coyoacán, Tepeyac and Gregorio M. Solís, among others.

This street rehabilitation package in the city is part of the 1.4 billion pesos bag in public works for Juárez, jointly with the Chihuahua Border Bridge Trust that the agency announced last year.

Within the works, works are contemplated for the improvement of the road infrastructure, which will benefit in reducing the transfer times of border drivers, said the official.

As part of the infrastructure, 2,395 kilometers of roads have been improved in the entity, some of which are sections affected by the rains, mostly.
