The UEFA report prevents Spain-Cyprus from being played at El Sardinero

The international match between Spain and Cyprus scheduled for next September 12 will not be played, finally, in the Campos de Sport of El Sardinero. Last week, UEFA inspectors sent a negative report to the Royal Spanish Football Federation regarding the facilities, indicating that the Santander stadium does not meet the minimum requirements. UEFA requires that the organization of an official match valid for qualifying for the next Eurocup in Germany 2024 has a minimum rating of category four in this organization’s stadium evaluation scale, with category two being the rating of the result of the inspection.

This unfavorable report entails undertaking all the necessary reforms to reach the required level of qualification. And especially and taking into account the execution deadlines, there are no sufficient guarantees of having the stadium with all the reforms undertaken before July 30, the deadline established by UEFA. This schedule also prevents dealing with the legal guarantees of the contracting processes established by the RFEF.
