The United States became France’s main gas supplier in 2022, the year the war in Ukraine began, ahead of Norway and Russia, from which France gets 15 percent, according to key energy figures released Thursday and cited by AFP.

Amid very strong price increases and supply tensions linked to the Russian invasion, the United States also became the main source of crude oil imports for France, from 9th place in 2018, with Russia dropping from 6th place in 10th place, according to the document published annually by the Ministry of Energy Transition.
