“Today we are announcing that the Administration will end vaccination requirements against Covid-19 for federal employees, government contractors and international air travelers on May 11, the same day the health emergency ends,” the Executive detailed in a statement.
The United States required proof of vaccination from foreign travelers since 2021, “in order to stop the spread of new variants entering the country,” recalled the White House.
The Government of the North American country justified the end of this requirement because the deaths from Covid-19 in the United States decreased by 95% since January 2021 and hospitalizations have fallen 91%.
In addition, worldwide deaths from the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 are “at their lowest levels since the start of the pandemic.”
Due to the pandemic, access to the United States was restricted.

The Executive recalled that nearly 270 million Americans have received at least one dose of the vaccine against Covid-19, which has allowed the country to enter a “different phase”.
“Our vaccination requirements against Covid-19 reinforced the immunization throughout the country and the vaccination campaign has saved millions of lives,” claimed the White House.
With more than a million deaths, The United States is the country in the world with the most deaths from the Covid-19 pandemic. 69% of the US population, some 230 million people, have completed the vaccination schedule against Covid-19.
Those under 18 years of age can enter the United States without being vaccinated. For passengers older than that age, at least two doses or one application of single-dose vaccines are required (Janssen and Cansino)
The approved vaccines are those of the World Health Organization, which include Cansino, AstraZeneka, Pfizeramong others, but not the Russian Sputnik V.
