According to the director of the Cultural Center, Ezequiel Grimson, the exhibition, full of “Borgean findings”, offers readers a new prism from which to approach the flagship book of the Argentine writer. “For Borges lovers it is the reunion with the most emblematic volume of the author. It is there where he really launches to create an imaginary linked to the infinities of the library, to the mazes, to dream and to be dreamed. Themes that later end up crystallizing as the great topics of his work ”, he explains.
The exhibition explores the universe that the Argentine created in his writings.
The exhibition does not follow a linear order and takes advantage of each space in the artistic pavilion to offer signs of entry into the Borgean universe: a map transformed into a geometric mural of the city of Buenos Aires marks the crimes committed in the police crime La muerte y la brújula.
The curators of this tribute and researchers from the Mariano Moreno National Library, Germán Álvarez and Laura Rosato, agree that these literary pieces inaugurate the style of writing known today, although until 1944 only his poetry could be appreciated.
Part of our objective is that this exhibition serves as an invitation to read, that people remain with the desire to read Borges.
In a corner of the literary corridor, the episode of The Simpsons titled: ‘Lisa, the iconoclast’ is played on a loop, in which the daughter discovers that the founder of her town Springfield is actually a pirate and traitor to the country. The chapter is an animated tribute to the Theme of the traitor and the hero, which has the same narrative, relates the events from a similar point of view and shares space with the film adaptation of Bernardo Bertolucci: The spider’s strategy (1970).
In short, rethinking art, contemporary cultures and technologies, under a halo of fiction to replace reality and highlight the virtue of anachronism or the capacity for abstraction, is part of the visit.
