Although the official series ended after eleven seasons, the television universe of The Walking Dead is set to expand with new spinoffs. Among these, one has already been confirmed with Rick and Michonne, great protagonists of the AMC show, which could come out sooner than expected. To provide new updates on the potential launch window we thought Danai Gurira, interpreter of Michonne, in a recent interview.
When is The Walking Dead’s Rick and Michonne spinoff coming out?
I think the series will be released in late 2023. It could be before or after Halloween, but the goal is to get her out around that time.
This is the synopsis of the show, which will be called The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne: An epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world. Kept apart by distance. From an unstoppable power. From the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, born of a war against the dead…and, ultimately, a war against the living. Will they be able, in a place and in a situation never seen before, to find each other and find the people they were? Are they enemies? lovers? Victims? Winners? Can they still be divided? Or will they discover that they, too, are the walking dead?
The two characters also made a surprise appearance in the season 11 finale of The Walking Dead, thus opening the doors to their spinoff. Also confirmed is a new spinoff titled Dead City starring Maggie (Lauren Coahn) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and a series about Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), set in Paris. The Walking Dead comic concluded in 2019 and Robert Kirkman also spoke about the “cringe” scene that he would have liked to remove. The aforementioned scene has also been transposed, albeit with some small changes, within the AMC series. In Italy the episodes of The Walking Dead are available on Disney Plus.
