The new season of The Witcherand last with Henry Cavill in the title role, will consist of two parts expected respectively next June 29 and July 27 on Netflix.

Netflix lifts the veil on season 3 of The Witcher. The streaming platform unveiled on Tuesday a new trailer for the next installment of its hit series derived from the literary saga ofheroic fantasy and the eponymous video game.

This season will be divided into two parts: the first five episodes of the program will be broadcast on June 29 on Netflix, then the remaining three will be released on July 27.

According to the synopsis released by the platform, Geralt de Riv, witcher responsible for ridding the Continent of the demons that inhabit it, “must protect his newly reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it”.

Charged with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) leads the family to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to learn more about the girl’s untapped powers. Henry Cavill replaced by Liam Hemsworth

This third season also marks the final appearance of Henry Cavill in the title role of Geralt de Riv, monster hunter and hero of the program. The actor will be replaced by the Australian Liam Hemsworth in the next episodes.

In October, Henry Cavill had announced his sudden departure from the series, causing astonishment among regulars of the program. “As is often done for great characters in literature, I pass the torch with (…) enthusiasm to see what Liam will come up with with this fascinating and nuanced man,” he wrote on Instagram.

Some disappointed fans then launched a petition to oppose the departure of the actor and demand a replacement of the screenwriters, without success despite more than 45,000 signatures.

In the process, Henry Cavill also revealed that he intended to resume his role as Superman, before canceling this return a few days later.
