The Witcher Origin Blood was supposed to allow Netflix to capitalize on the witcher franchise as much as possible, but the first feedback has been very negative. A disaster.
The first two seasons of the series The Witcher managed to find their audience on Netflix soon after they aired. The show worn by the winning trio Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan will even be renewed for a third and fourth season. Moreover, Henry Cavill will leave the series from season 3 to give way to Thor’s little brother.
Faced with this success, Netlfix then ordered a spin-off series supposed to tell us the story of the famous Conjunction of the Spheres, the cataclysm that gave birth to the witcher’s universe. Only here, the public and the critics clearly did not appreciate the trip.
Red card for The Witcher Blood Origin
The Witcher: Blood Origin, like most new releases, is currently among the most watched trends on the platform and so there was hope. The problem is that the public does not stay and is not convinced, quite the contrary. On Rotten Tomatoes, the spin-off scores a chilling 38% for 24 reviews from the press and a ridiculous 8% for nearly 2,040 viewer reviews. A desaster.
For comparison, the original series, The Witcher, is currently at 81% on the press side for a score of 75% on the public side. And the animated spin-off, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf100% for the press and 83% for the public. Wednesdayanother Netflix bomb at the end of the year, has a press score of 71% and a score of 86% among the public.
The spin-off of The Witcher literally gets destroyed on Rotten Tomatoes and almost everywhere else. Some criticize the series in particular for bringing nothing and giving “no answer” on the cataclysm or the creation of the first witchers, for “treating its subjects in a pinch”, or even for being quite simply a “heap of sh*t full of bad ideas”. In short, the fans are clearly not happy.
The Witcher Blood Origin got off to a very, very bad start and it smells scorched for the future. Netflix has indeed already put to death series with much better returns and it would be surprising to see the VOD giant invest more in what presents itself as being one of the worst starts of the platform.
