Update (12/27/2022) – GS

On December 25th, the Netflix series The Witcher: Origin, derived from the main production that starred Henry Cavill during the first three seasons, arrived on Netflix.

Even though the spin-off series reached number one among Netflix’s most popular productions, it isn’t doing very well with expert critics and even with users who decided to leave their review on Rotten Tomatoes.

Speaking of Rotten, the series managed a target of just 38 percent from reviews from 24 critics, while the audience score is even worse, with just 8 percent from more than 2,000 user reviews. It’s a rating that is the lowest for the franchise overall. The general consensus on Inception is that it’s a “shallow” exploration of the franchise universe of the series that shares DNA, but it doesn’t have much to make it memorable.

We still don’t know if Netflix intends to continue this derivative story, but with ratings like this, it’s hard to imagine that the public will be interested in another season.
