The national government agreed with the oil companies on a new scheme for increases in fuel prices over the next four months. The guideline signed with the main firms in the sector establishes a monthly increase of 4% from April 15 to August 15. The previous agreement also endorsed increases of 4% per month between January and March.

The agreement, promoted by the Ministry of Economy, was presented this afternoon by the Secretary of Energy, Flavia Royon, and the Secretary of Commerce, Matías Tombolini, and establishes a guideline of 4% per month in the prices of gasoline and diesel.

The increases will take effect this Saturday, April 15, and will be valid until August 15. From Economy they pointed out that this measure seeks to “protect consumers and promote stability in the market.”

The new Fair Prices for the oil sector were signed this afternoon by the companies YPF, PAE, Raízen and Trafigura, during a meeting with Royon and Tombolini at the Ministry of Economy.

There, Royon valued “the efforts of the companies” and stressed that for its part “the State is already making an effort to contain prices and anchor inflationary expectations so that this does not have an effect on prices and on the pocket from the people”.

The person who also spoke was Tombolini: “The signing of this agreement allows us to give a signal of predictability to consumers, users and companies and, in addition, it accompanies the road map established by Minister Massa that encourages us to maintain fiscal balance and take care of the Bookings”.

Present during the meeting were Alejandro Cerviño (Manager of External and Government Relations of Raízen Argentina SA), Agustín Agraz (Vice President of Institutional Relations for Downstream Operations of Pan American Energy), Alejandro Fernández (Commercial Vice President of YPF) and Martín Urdapilleta (General Manager of Trafigura).

It should be noted that the last price agreement signed with the oil companies ended in March, through which the Government gave them the green light to increase prices by 4% in December, January and February, while during the third month of the year they were authorized to raise values by 3.8%.
