A few days after the verdict of the trial for the murder of Fernando Baez Sosa and with the eight rugby players already sentenced in the facilities of the Warden No. 3 of Melchor Romero, where they await to be transferred to the prisons where they will serve their sentences; it transpired that maximum thomsenwho received a life sentence and was one of the most complicated throughout the process, could be separated from his friends and transferred to a special prison.
Just as it happened with Cyrus Pertossi (22), Enzo Comelli (22), Matias Benicelli (23) and Luciano Pertosi (21), the 23-year-old received the harshest sentence provided for in the Penal Code for the aggravated homicide of Báez Sosa. Ayrton Violaz (23 years), Blas Cinalli (21) and Lucas Pertosi (23), for their part, were considered secondary participants in the crime and the Oral Criminal Court No. 1 sentenced them to 15 years in prison.
After the ruling, the eight convicted returned to La Plata, where they were detained for 3 years before the start of the trial against them. Within this framework, they await a definition from the Buenos Aires Penitentiary Service (SPB) to determine which penal unit will serve their sentences. The decision, however, does not seem to be easy and it is that, as published minute one in the last hours in the organization they fear that the other inmates may retaliate against the convicted person and that his life may be at risk.
The prison authorities believe that since Thomsen is considered the leader of the rugby players who beat Fernando to death in Villa Gesell and who had greater media exposure during the process, he could be targeted by the other inmates when transferred to a common jail.
