After various rumours, Xbox Y Bethesda officially announce an upcoming Developer Direct for January 25 at 2:00 PM (CDMX), while explaining that Starfield will not be there.

This is because, to give it the treatment it deserves, Xbox and Bethesda are preparing a separate event to “dig deeper” into the gameplay of Starfield.

Many were quick to note that Microsoft didn’t reveal any new games or show any actual trailers at the Game Awards 2022. This raised some concerns about the Xbox lineup for 2023, though Xbox’s VP of marketing stated at the time that the company would show more coming soon

This week, that same executive teased a “fun week” for the Xbox brand, followed by reports of the event. Now it has been officially confirmed.

The development director will offer fans an “inside look at some of the games coming to Xbox, PC, and Game Pass in the coming months,” with the announcement of The Elder Scrolls Online, Forza Motorsport, Minecraft Legends, and Redfall. The language is pretty definitive in the sense that these may be the only games present, but this level of communication is certainly welcome.

When the first rumors about this event surfaced, many were concerned about what it would mean for Starfield to skip it, but revealing that a standalone expo is in the works for him has been smart of Microsoft’s part.
