LONDON.- The princess annesister of rey Carlos III, She is fine, her husband said Tuesday after visiting her in the hospital where she is recovering ‘from minor injuries and a concussion’ to her head after a accident which would have been caused by a horse.
“She is fine,” her husband Tim Laurence told reporters in front of the Bristol hospital, in western England, where she has been admitted since Sunday afternoon. “She is recovering well,” she added.
In a brief statement, Buckingham Palace announced on Monday that the 73-year-old princess, very popular in England, suffered “minor injuries and shock following an incident in Gatcombe Park yesterday (Sunday) afternoon.”
Gatcombe Park, located in the county of Gloucestershire (southwest England), is the country home of Princess Anne, a great fan of horse riding.
It is believed that the incident was caused by one of these animals, which hit her while she was walking within the protected perimeter of the farm, where equestrian events are held. “The princess is recovering well (…) and remains under observation in hospital as a precautionary measure,” a Palace spokesperson said on Monday.
Princess Recovery
The princess’s official engagements scheduled for this week have been cancelled.
The daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II was due to attend a banquet on Tuesday afternoon in Buckingham to mark the state visit of Japan’s Emperor Naruhito and his wife Empress Masako.
Anne from England also had to cancel a trip to Canada, scheduled for the end of the week.
The royal princess, as she is called in her country, is a high-level equestrian and even represented her country at the Montreal Olympics in 1976.
He is the most active member of the royal family with hundreds of engagements a year.
Princess Anne has two children, Peter and Zara, from her first marriage to equestrian Mark Philipps.
Following her divorce in 1992, she remarried nine months later to Commander Timothy Laurence, former equerry to Queen Elizabeth.
