They dismantle a network dedicated to falsifying Spanish ancestry for Cubans

VALENCIA.- The authorities in Valencia dismantled a criminal network that was dedicated to falsifying documentation to certify the Spanish ancestry of citizens Cubanswith the aim of facilitating residence in Spain.

After more than a year of investigations, the National Police announced the temporary detention of two men and two women between 52 and 57 years old, of Cuban and Italian origin, as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, document falsification and favoring of illegal immigration.

According to review Martí News, the modus operandi of this network was to attract Cuban citizens, offering them specialized legal services in matters of immigration and promising to regularize their administrative situation in Spain. In exchange, they charged figures ranging between 1,000 and 3,000 euros for the process.

However, the irregularities in the files began to attract the attention of the authorities approximately a year ago, when Immigration and Borders officers in Valencia detected anomalies in numerous cases processed before the City Government Subdelegation.

The investigations revealed that those involved presented falsified Cuban birth certificates to the Subdelegation of the Government of Valencia, making it appear that the applicants had a paternal-filial relationship with deceased Spanish citizens. This maneuver allowed them to fraudulently obtain temporary residence authorizations and even, in some cases, Spanish nationality.
