They find Puerto Rican lifeless in Florida;  identify person of interest

A Puerto Rican woman was found lifeless on July 17 at her residence located in Sanford, Florida and the authorities reported the identification of a person of interest in the case that is being investigated as a possible murder.

Although they did not disclose further details, local authorities said that “we can say that it was an isolated incident and that the victim and the person of interest knew each other.”

Joysee Cartagena, was found dead with a tie around her neck inside her home on July 17. The woman’s residence is located in the 3000 block of Saltmarsh Loop.

“My mom was like a light that many people looked at and felt that it was a contagious smile,” was how her son described the woman.

Before the tragic incident, he narrated that his mother prepared a meal for him to take to school and kissed him goodbye without knowing that it was the last time they would see each other.

The victim was found by a 911 caller at the time.

Following autopsy examinations by the Lake County Medical Examiner, authorities are investigating the incident as a suspicious death and/or homicide.

Cartagena is a native of the town of Carolina, Puerto Rico.
