They find remains of a woman who disappeared more than a year ago by her ex-partner in Ecuador

Quito.- The remains of a woman who had been missing for more than a year in Ecuador were found this after her ex-partner confessed the whereabouts where she had abandoned them, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.

The discovery was made in Amaguaña, a town near Quito where the skeletal remains of Rosa Gladys C. were located, who had been reported missing on April 20, 2022 in the capital of Ecuador.

The Public Ministry proceeded to remove the skeletal remains in coordination with the National Directorate of Kidnappings and Disappearances (Dinased) of the Ecuadorian National Police.

The Prosecutor’s investigation led to the arrest of Ismael S., Rosa’s ex-partner, who reported that he would have abandoned the woman’s body in Amaguaña.

In the next few hours the legal situation of the person involved will be resolved, the Public Ministry said.

Ecuador registered 332 cases of femicide in 2022, according to data from the ALDEA Foundation, which was the year with the most violent deaths of women since that crime was defined in 2014.
