Misiones Police officers intercepted a car loaded with 269 gross cigarettes early today and arrested the two occupants.

According to what was reported by police sources, agents from the Colonia Alicia Detachment were conducting patrols around 2 in the morning when they observed a vehicle hidden in a mountain area at Km 20 of Provincial Route 221. Immediately, the troops intercepted a Renault Scenic with two occupants and verified that inside the vehicle they had packages of cigarettes of foreign origin, without customs guarantee.

Next, the Police notified the Oberá Federal Prosecutor’s Office and counted the cigarette packs, which yielded 269 fat cigarettes, containing 2,690 bundles. In addition, they delayed two men identified as Leandro D. 27 years old and Edgardo P. 23.

Subsequently, the seized merchandise along with the vehicle were deposited at the police headquarters at the disposal of the Federal Justice and the delayed were subject to the cause for violation of the customs code, the spokespersons indicated.
