Mexico City.- After 36 years from the start of its broadcast, the successful program Papá Soltero, starring César Costa, is preparing its return with a sequel under the name of Abuelo Soltero.

“I am very happy for Abuelo Soltero. I feel very good, I feel productive because I have several projects on the horizon that have not materialized yet. I am an enemy of telling projects like crazy, when they are more armed and more concrete with pleasure I’ll tell you about it,” Costa concisely stated in an interview.

In the plot, located in a building in the old DF, Costa played a widowed father who had to take care of his three children (Gerardo Quiroz, Edith Márquez and Luis Mario Quiroz).

The new version, which aims to show the evolution of the characters, will not feature Márquez, who declined to participate to meet his musical commitments, although Graciela Mauri will enter instead.

Actress Lupita Sandoval will play the character of Gumara instead of Aurora Alonso, who passed away on June 11, 2004.

“It is a pity that the original cast cannot be there, but many have already gone ahead of us. We are the ones who have to be there. We intend to rescue the original values as we have been doing. The program brings messages of love, union and respect. We want to contribute things beautiful”, said José Luis Cordero, in an interview.

Cordero embodied “Pocholo” in the original broadcast, the doorman of the building where the story takes place, and he will repeat his character.

Papá Soltero started in 1987 and went off the air in 1994, and was in the first places of preference of the audience.

Although there is no exact date for the premiere, Abuelo Soltero will soon be broadcast on channel 2 of Televisa.
