Mexico City.- The Technical Council of the Faculty of Law of the UNAM unanimously agreed to instruct the Ethics Commission to expeditiously resolve the relevant disciplinary procedure in the case of Professor Martha Rodríguez Ortiz, thesis director of Minister Yasmín Esquivel, accused of alleged plagiarism.

In a statement, the Faculty of Law informed that in this task the Ethics Commission will be accompanied by five Technical Advisors, with the aim that the disciplinary procedure is carried out in strict adherence to university regulations.

“By unanimous decision, this Collegiate Body agreed to instruct and encourage the Ethics Commission, accompanied by five Technical Advisors, so that the disciplinary procedure that may take place, regarding the performance as director, be analyzed, vented and resolved expeditiously. of the theses and synod of Professor Martha Rodríguez Ortiz, with strict adherence to university regulations”, he points out.

According to the statement, the Commission will start work immediately and in the next few days will issue an opinion that will be presented to the Plenary of the Technical Council, which will adopt the resolution to define the situation of the academic.

The Faculty of Law reported that the decision to intervene to study and provide elements for the clarification of the facts, has the objective of safeguarding its prestige as an institution.

He added that as part of the agreements made by the College of Directors, convened by Rector Enrique Graue, on January 6, the Technical Council also appointed a Special Commission in charge of reviewing and proposing to the plenary session modifications to the Regulation of Professional Examinations and Degree of the Faculty.

The foregoing, he indicated, with the objective of implementing thesis review procedures through computer programs specialized in the detection of possible plagiarism.
