The national government plans to build 421 new kindergartens and expand another 211 that are already in operation to respond to the demand for a 3-year-old room, one of the pending subjects in education. However, for now, they are not considering making that room mandatory.

According to official data, from 2020 to date, the Government expanded 88 kindergartens and inaugurated 231 new buildings. In addition, 162 rooms were refurbished and another 882 were opened. Between works in progress and projects, they plan to build 421 new gardens and expand another 211 that are already in operation. Between repairs and inaugurations, there are works projected in 1950 rooms in different parts of the country.

“Our intention is that all the children of the country can have a first initial literacy. There is an idea that in Argentina we do not fulfill anything and it is not like that. We maintain that with political agreements and financing things can be achieved. The coverage data in The initial level shows it that way”said the Minister of National Education, Jaime Perczykin statements to infobae.

In our country, the 5 room is mandatory since 1993 and the 4 room since 2014. Although the 3 room is not, Law No. 27,045 of 2014 establishes that governments must guarantee that there is access for all the population that demands it. However, only 42.3% of three-year-olds go to kindergarten.

In the last few decades, there has been a growth in the enrollment of the initial level. In the room of 5 there was a coverage of 75% in 2006, when the law was enacted and today it is practically universal, while in the Room of 4 the turnout is now 92%.

76% of kindergartens are state-run, while 24% are privately run. Although the numbers vary according to the room in question: in the 5-year room, 72.2% of the sections are publicly managed, in the 4-year room that number is 69.7% and in the 3-year room years the state offer is 56.6%, while the rest of the offer is privately managed education.
