The Trade Union Association of Subway and Premetro Workers (AGTSyP) announced that it will carry out a new strike this Monday, May 8, which will affect lines B and H, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m..

Previously, from 12:00, the workers will release the turnstiles for one hour. At that time, in addition, the metro delegates called a press conference to provide details of the measure of force, according to an official statement.

As has been happening for months, this protest will take place to demand the reduction of the working day, the removal of “carcinogenic asbestos” from the network and “the change of contaminated fleets”.

For its part, from Emovca, the concessionaire company for the City’s subway and premetro network, issued a statement in response to the workers’ claim and remarked that the measure of force will affect “more than 290,000 users”.

In this sense, the company indicated that it repeatedly expressed its willingness to dialogue, but that the reduction in the weekly working day “is not viable without affecting the operating activities of the subway network.” And safe: “There is no precedent in metros in Latin America and the world of a weekly shift like the one that the AGTSyP is demanding”.

In addition, Emova assured that the measurements carried out on the quality of the air in all the work areas of the subway “provide results considered adequate for health” and that they are carried out by specialized institutions and laboratories “that were validated by the Environmental Protection Agency of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires.”
