Three cities in Florida, among the best to find a job in the summer

MIAMI.- With the arrival of summer, many people see these vacations as a time of relaxation or fun, others see the opportunity to obtain a job that allows them to earn extra money or work experience.

Finding temporary or stable employment during this time can be difficult, which is why the personal finance website WalletHub released its list of the best places in the United States to work during the warmest months of the year.

According to the analysis, which compared 21 key indicators of employment prospects, affordability and ease of downtime in 180 cities nationwide, some places offer better summer job opportunities than others.

Orlando, the best city from Florida to work in summer

In this regard, three cities in Florida were ranked among the 10 cities that offer the best working conditions in the country to work during the summer.

According to WalletHub, Orlando is the best city in the Sunshine State for summer employment, ranking fifth on the list with a score of 56.20, due to pay, the number of job offers and relatively low rents.

Known for its theme parks that offer a large number of jobs, the “city beautiful” scored a 9 percent in youth labor market rank and 13 in social environment and affordability.

St. Petersburg is in seventh place with a rating of 55.13. Meanwhile, Fort Lauderdale ranks ninth with an evaluation of 54.03, standing out as the fifth place with the highest availability of summer jobs per capita.

Other cities in the Sunshine State achieved outstanding positions by entering the top fifteen of the list, such as Tampa, which occupies 11th place with 53, 52 points.

Florida cities such as Cape Coral at number twenty-four and Jacksonville at number 35 are also on the list.

Although it is a well-known city recognized for offering many services related to tourism and other sectors of the economy, Miami ranked 68th in the ranking with a rating of 45.73.

Among the disadvantage factors mentioned were high rental prices of the residences. However, the “Magic City” came in second for summer job availability per capita, according to the report.

The best cities to work in summer

While a job may pay well in one city, the same position may not pay as much in another. Minimum wage laws and local costs, for example, will determine how much you will earn and, consequently, how much you can afford in terms of housing, transportation, and social activities.

According to the report, the best city to work in summer is Columbia, Maryland with a score of 63.12. Because it leads the country in the number of jobs per capita and has one of the highest median incomes for part-time workers, about $26,900 a year.

They are followed by Scottsdale, Arizona in second place with a score of 60.90, Rapid City, Dakota in third with 57.62 and Portland, Oregon in fourth with 56.92.

Scottsdale has the highest median income for part-time workers, about $34,000 per year, which means summer employment should net people a good amount of cash.

For its part, Rapid City has the largest summer employment increase in the country, meaning there are significantly more jobs available during the summer compared to other times of the year.

A good time to find a job

WalletHub analyst Cassandra Happe noted that “it’s a good time to get a summer job, considering that many places still have labor shortages and can increase their compensation as a result.”

“In addition to good wages and good working conditions, the best cities for summer jobs also have attractive features like short commute times and fun activities to do outside of work,” he added.
