This geoscientist and coastal ecologist, nicknamed Dr. Beach by his students at the University of Maryland, he has dedicated his life to discovering the best beaches in the U.S. and defending coastal ecosystems.
The scientist’s website publishes its list of the best beaches every year, following a scale based on 50 criteria, which include everything from the quality of the sand and the number of sunny days to the cleanliness of the water, among other factors.
The three Florida beaches that make the top 10 list in the United States for 2024 are:
- Caladesi Island State ParkDunedin Clearwater, Florida: Ranked #4 on Dr. Beach’s list, it’s famous for its soft, white sands and crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming and kayaking.
