A young man of Cuban origin was arrested by the heist in series of several cars in condominiums in Hialeah, Florida, between July and August, according to police sources.
Agents arrested Wednesday Gilberto Gonzalez Lopez23, after robbing the Plaza of Westland residential complex, where security cameras recorded him entering the building and moments later escaping in a stolen vehiclenoted a report from America TeVe.
González appeared in Miami-Dade court on Thursday, and faces five counts of grand theft related to the five car theftaccording to court documents.
Residents of the Hialeah condominium where he committed his latest theft revealed to America TeVe that González came to steal the same gold-colored Chevrolet Suburban truck twice there.
According to the arrest warrants, between July 25 and August 2, the individual also stole a Nissan Altima and entered another car to take various objects.
On August 1, González was captured by surveillance cameras as he approached the area of 992 West and 3rd Avenue in Hialeah in a blue BMW, which had been reported stolen in the city of Miami, according to a report from Telemundo 51.
The Cuban is unemployed and, according to his driver’s license, resides in the city of Browling Green, in Hardee County, although he slept in the vehicles he stole.
The investigation into the thefts continues. González was set on $25,000 bail.
Last June, Florida police dismantled a network dedicated to the sale of high-end vehicles stolen or acquired through fraud. Among the 23 suspects arrested are several Cubans.
A Cuban owner of a car dealership in Hialeah was arrested for the third time in early July on new charges of grand theft and fraud. Months before, Christopher Landy Mora24 years old, had already been arrested for the identity theft of an elderly woman, whom he left with a debt of more than 108 thousand dollars after the purchase of several cars.
