The motorcycle pilot was the first to represent a Chilean soccer club in the international competition. The athlete talked about his experience with the Colo Colo Social and Sports Club, in which he told several anecdotes and conversations with other pilots who were surprised by this agreement.

It was super special to be the first athlete to wear the Club’s badge in the most difficult rally in the world. A new path is opened so that the institution can cover other disciplines. Finally, Colo-Colo is Chile and I am very happy to have been able to represent the Colocolinos with great honor and respect.”.

Along the same lines, the pilot recounted that “Some pilots from South America asked me about the Colo-Colo insignia. They knew about soccer and they told me that it seemed super important to them that the most important clubs on the continent are available to support athletes. Other competitors were supported by Peñarol, Boca Juniors. That Colo-Colo is present equals what the most important teams in the world do”.

But that was not the only product of the fact that he also received a lot of affection from the competitors, who kindly came to greet him for the career that his father Carlo, another great colocolino, made.

“Several participants and visitors greeted me because of my father, who never would have imagined that I would be here running, let alone the result I obtained, because of course, one does not set those goals when he is very young. I think he would be super happy that he raced it and finished good and healthy.”

Tomás De Gavardo finished his first participation in a Dakar in 33rd place in the Rally 2 category for private riders and in 50th place in the general motorcycle classification.
