Quintana Roo, Mexico.- A taxi driver from Cozumel, Quintana Roo, was suspended from his operations for six months after being accused by a tourist of sexual abuse.

The young woman, who narrated that she traveled from Mexico City to Cozumel, narrated that the man who was driving unit 759 tried to kiss her when she was paying for the service last Wednesday night.

“I paid a taxi to take us to various places, the taxi is 759, I wanted to give him a tip and what he did was try to kiss me when I was not with anyone, please be very careful,” he says through tears the victim.

The young woman narrated that once the man tried to kiss her, he returned the tip and demanded that she not say anything and not cry, however, she decided to report the fact.

The suspension of the alleged attacker was confirmed by Arturo Payán Tejero, general secretary of the Cozumel Taxi Drivers Union, who explained that the man behind the wheel denied the accusations.

In social networks, users criticized that the measure for the indicated was a suspension and not a major sanction.

This accusation adds to the multiple complaints of abuses and assaults involving taxi drivers from Quintana Roo, who seek to prevent the operation of Uber in the tourist site.
