Tragic fire: four members of a family trapped in their own home die

Four members of the same family, including a four-month-old baby, died in a residential fire on August 1 in Ocean County, New Jersey.

In the emergency, firefighters were able to rescue a woman, identified as 67-year-old Brenda Wright, who was admitted to Community Medical Center in stable condition.

The incident took place at a residence on Buttonwood Drive in Lanoka Harbor in Lacey Township.

The authorities could not continue with the rescues because the roof of the structure collapsed and the firefighters had to evacuate the area until the flames subsided.

The fatalities were identified as:

  • Jennifer Wright, 39 years old
  • Alaina Wright, 34 years old
  • A teenager, 14 years old
  • An infant, four months old

The identities of the minors were not released.

“This is an unspeakable tragedy and we dedicate our thoughts and prayers to those close to the victims,” ​​prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said in writing.

After the investigation, the authorities determined that it was an accidental fire that started on the west side of the balcony.
