Mexico City.- Oh Yeong-su, an actor from the series The Squid Game, will go on trial for sexual misconduct, scheduled to begin this Friday, February 3, NME reported.

The accusation was made last year in Suwon, near Seoul, in South Korea. It is alleged that he touched a woman inappropriately in 2017.

The unnamed woman reportedly filed a complaint against Yeong-su in December 2021. However, authorities closed the case in April 2022. The matter was reopened at the request of the victim, according to a news agency report. Yonhap.

Oh has previously denied the claim, in a statement shared with Korean broadcaster JTBC.

“I just took his hand to lead the way around the lake. I apologized because (the person) said he wouldn’t make a fuss about it, but that doesn’t mean I admit the charges.”

Yeong-su won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Squid Game and earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Before the hit netflix series, he was best known for starring in stage productions. He later began appearing in a number of Korean movies and TV shows, including 2003’s God Of War and A Little Monk.

A second season of The Squid’s Game is in early development on Netflix, expected to launch in 2024.
