Truck crashes into Hialeah restaurant, ruptures gas line

Ovidio Alvarado, manager of the restaurant “El Caribe” in Hialeah, and his employees are fine, but they got a big scare when a truck crashed into one of the outside walls of the place where they work.

Aerial images showed the seconds after the traffic incident that involved two vehicles.

“At 12:30 we heard a horrible explosion outside, we thought it was lightning and it was a car that had an accident in the restaurant,” says the restaurant manager that “a car cut him off at the red light.”

Both had to be removed by crane. A black SUV was the one that hit the external wall of the “El Caribe” restaurant, bursting a natural gas line. The other car was left in the middle of the road with visible damage to the front end.

“The problem was gas; that there was an accident against the gas”, specified the restaurant manager.

At least three blocks, including a shopping center where the restaurant is located, were completely closed, while the emergency was attended to by the police and the fire rescue department.

“We are all fine, thank God,” confirmed the restaurant manager, who said that the employees were preparing to just start their day and that although there is still no electricity, so far there are no reports of people being injured.
