Kali Jo Scott and Cliff Scott from Texas were expecting their first child in mid-January, but the twin girls in the womb had other plans.
The babies of the Texas couple announced their arrival on New Year’s Eve and were born on different days – and even in different years.

Just kidding about the thought
Baby Annie Jo was born on December 31, 2022 at 11:55 p.m., and was the last baby born at the Texas hospital that year.
Shortly afterwards, twin sister Effie Rose was born on 1 January 2023 at 00:01, becoming the hospital’s first New Year’s baby.
– We had joked that “Wouldn’t it have been funny if they had each had their own birthday”, says the mother, Kali Jo.
– It turned out that there was a greater opportunity for that than we were aware of, she adds.
The Scott couple say that both girls are healthy and happy.

Own identity
The parents are happy that their daughters now have different birthdays, even though they are twins. They hope that it will also help the twins keep their identities.
– As a twin parent, you always want to make sure that the children have their own individual personality – that they are special and unique. So the fact that they have different birthdays will probably ensure that they have that special and unique quality that some twins may not get, say the twin parents.
Despite the fact that Kali Jo and Cliff are happy with different birthdays, several of their friends have joked about the fact that they are actually born in different years.
Among other things, some have mentioned that it can be a complicated schedule for the family, as youth sports are often based on the year in which the child was born.
The parents themselves think it’s just funny that people comment on the year difference, and claim that it should be fine.
Each year, around 120,000 twins are born in the United States, which makes up only three percent of all births. It is very rare for twins to be born on different dates, and it is estimated that the chance of someone being born in a different year is one in two million, writes Sky News.
