Just a few days ago Twitter removed almost all verified blue checkmarks on accounts that were established before Elon Musk bought the social media company and did not join Twitter Blue. But some of those badges are back.
As he recalls a report from Neowin, Musk wanted people to pay $8 a month to get that checkmark. Then it was revealed that the also CEO of Tesla and SpaceX personally put verification marks on the accounts of some celebrities. Now, there seems to be another partial change to your checkmark policy.
as reported Rolling Stone, Twitter has put the blue tick back on many accounts that have more than a million followers. One of them is the actor of The Lord of the Rings and X-Men, Ian McKellen, who wanted to let his followers know that he did not pay to get that badge back.

Elon Musk would be paying for the badges of some celebrities
Elon Musk assured last week that is personally paying for several celebrities to stay on Twitter Blue after they refused to pay the $8 monthly subscription that the blue verification badge guaranteed them.
Musk tweeted Thursday night that NBA star LeBron James, Star Trek actor William Shatner and author Stephen King are among the select few.

The return of some verified account brands isn’t the only thing Twitter has shifted gears on of late. Earlier this month, the network labeled media accounts like NPR, BBC, and PBS as “state-affiliated” or “government-funded.” Now, those tags have been removed from the accounts that had them.
