In the 2000s, there was probably no other sitcom that was as successful and influential in terms of pop culture as “Two and a Half Men”. The series made Charlie Sheen a mega star and even the best earner in his industry. To this day, the two and a half men have a lot of fanswho watch all the episodes over and over again… stumbling upon a few odd moments and mistakes along the way. But there are three characters that are particularly curious, and they all have something in common: they all change names at some point.
Something like that is often only noticed when you start the series again from the first episode – so it’s no wonder that it is more something the hardcore fans will notice. But it is actually true and has never been properly explained: Three characters suddenly have different names in the course of the series and no one knows exactly why. But which characters are they – and what were their original names?
dr Herb Melnick
The first character is Dr. Herb Melnick, Jake’s pediatrician and later Judith’s new husband. Thanks to Ryan’s hilariously funny style in the role, the slightly goofy henpecked hero quickly became a fan favorite. But before he became a regular on the show from season 4, he had already made appearances in season 2 – but was still called that at the time Greg Melnick.

Every “Two and a Half Men” fan loves Kandi. Alan’s less than intelligent, but all the funnier girlfriend and short-term wife was good for countless laughs in seasons 3 and 4. Before she got together with Alan, she was Charlie’s date in her first episode – and her name was Kimber. Is Kandi the abbreviation of Kimber? The series does not explain the name change.
Gordon
For many seasons, Gordon was a welcome guest at the Harpers – because he was their pizza delivery man. Gordon was also happy about the visits, since Charlie always gave him a generous tip. In his very first appearance, however, Gordon was still called ted, only after that he was called Gordon. How such a mistake could happen three times will probably remain the secret of the “Two and a Half Men” authors forever.
