At least two people were injured after a motorcycle collided with a truck on the Mar Verde highway, in Santiago de Cuba.
According to reports in the group of Facebook “BUSES & TRUCKS ACCIDENTS, due to more experience and fewer victims”, it was actually two accidents, one between two trucks, and the second involving the motorcycle against one of the trucks that had an accident.
Neighbors in the area indicated that on the motorcycle two people were traveling that they were injured: nothing happened to the driver of the motorcycle, only blows to the arm and he was under observation; However, the girl who was with him is reported to be seriously ill,” commented a member of that group.
“The truck was already there because it had collided with another truck, the motorist was coming dark and collided with the truck,” explained a resident of the area.
Another said that the “car collided with another that is not in the photo because it went down a ravine” when he was going to pick up several people at a wedding. Everyone who was traveling in the truck is fine, he stressed.
The motorcycle collided “with that car after a while and I don’t know how it happened because the traffic police and other agents were already there with the first accident,” he said.
“According to some policemen who already stopped me in Santiago, one was walking with a shirt full of blood and told me that there were two of them on the motorcycle and that the driver thought he was dead, but I don’t know the state of health of both,” he added.
Other Facebook users criticized that state motorcycles lack light and no one invests in their spare parts.
At least 3,620 traffic accidents occurred in Cuba in the first five months of 2023, with a balance of 290 deaths and 2,807 injuries, the authorities recently reported.
The human factor is the main cause of traffic accidents with 90%, and not attending to vehicle control continues to cause 75% of the victims for this cause, they pointed out.
