Introducing the revolutionary technology of u scan that brings a robust clinical urinalysis laboratory to the comfort of your toilet.

Where, contrary to what happens with most gadgets that are delicate when in contact with liquids, this disc is specially designed so that you urinate on it to obtain results on our state of health in a short time.

The start of this 2023, as would be obvious to expect, has been involved by a series of innovations in technological matters with the completion of the CES 2023where we’ve seen all sorts of new devices.

From a curious series of headphones to sleep better to a strange eyebrow printer from L’Oreal. But perhaps the most striking technological proposal that we have come across these days is that of this compact urine analysis laboratory.

This is how the U-Scan works to analyze your urine

Developed by the company Withings, U-Scan is a drive similar to a Chromecast, at least in its external design. But instead of connecting via HDMI to a flat screen, this device is hung from the toilet.

The gadget is configured by means of a companion app that is downloaded to a smartphone or tablet that ends up synchronizing with the drive. This is how all user data is recorded and the U-Scan enables its connection with the company’s servers.

So that in the end the patient only has to urinate on the disc so that the inertia of the liquid flow itself carries the sample over the surface of the disc to the suction opening areas that take the samples.

Inside the U-Scan there are a series of reactive cartridges that apply all the corresponding tests. Therefore, the necessary maintenance is required to change them for three months to ensure their proper functioning.

Once the sample has been taken after being combined with the reagent, the sensor readings are sent to the Withings servers that analyze everything to send the results quickly to the patient.

So far everything sounds good, but it’s obvious that there are some design issues with the U-Scan. Its position for the deposition of samples seems designed for men.

At the same time that permanent exposure on the toilet exposes the disk to contamination with dust particles or other elements that do not guarantee a clean sample.
