While the year is still just beginning, many are changing jobs for 2023. This is the case of Bernd Diemer, who today joins the ranks of Ubisoft.

New recruit at Ubisoft

If this name means nothing to you, Bernd Diemer notably worked on Horizon Zero Dawn, Battlefield V, Crysis or even Star Wars Battlefront 2, for which he was Creative Director. He joins Ubisoft as editorial vice-president, with the ambition of shaping the future of social experience of the publisher’s next games.

In the
Press release
announcing his arrival, we can read this:

I am honored to join Ubisoft and have the opportunity to collaborate with talented global teams to shape the future of social experience in Ubisoft’s games.

They are known to be catalysts for vibrant and diverse communities, made possible by innovative features and powerful brands that bring players together. I’m excited to partner with the group’s teams around the world to take the social experience in our games to new heights.

For her part, Marie-Sophie de Waubert, senior vice-president of operations for the various studios, said:

Today, games are more than just entertainment: they are virtual spaces where people can connect and share meaningful experiences.

The social experience is an increasingly essential part of Ubisoft’s strategy to reach new audiences and we look forward to welcoming Bernd to the Global Creative Office, where he will work closely with our production teams to realizing our vision of games as places where every player can be authentic and find their community.

We hope that this collaboration will be beneficial to the players as well as to the future games of the publisher. Remember that recently, Ubisoft canceled one of its service game projects that we knew as Project Q. The coop FPS Project U remains well under development at Ubisoft Annecy, and should give its news this year .
