The two horses were later detained in Limehouse, about 6 kilometers (4 miles) east of the centre, according to City of London police.

At first it was not clear what had happened, although it appeared that seven horses had emerged from their barracks in the center of the city and ran uncontrollably. They were all brought under control shortly after.

“Several military horses were turned loose during a routine exercise this morning,” an army spokesperson said.

“All horses have been recovered and returned to base. “A number of troops and horses have been injured and have received appropriate medical attention,” the spokesperson said.

British media reported that a frightened horse had broken the window of a taxi driver waiting near Buckingham Palace, while another crashed into a parked double-decker bus, causing damage to the windshield.
