Uruguay got three points at home by defeating Colombia 1-0 in the game for date 1 of the CONMEBOL – Sub 20 Colombia 2023 tournament. The local team scored the only goal of the game after 32 minutes of the second half, through Facundo Gonzalez. After an individual move over the center, the defender finished off the goal and beat the rival goalkeeper to score his goal.
With 11 minutes into the first half, striker Luciano Rodríguez’s shot hit the post of the rival goal and Uruguay was left wanting to celebrate.
A high foul rate constantly slowed down play on the court. There were several admonished: Andrés Salazar, Jhon Vélez, Édier Ocampo and Juan Cruz De Los Santos.
Uruguay’s coach Marcelo Broli stopped the starting eleven with a 4-3-3 formation with Randall Rodriguez in goal; Mateo Ponte, Sebastian Boselli, Facundo González and Mathías De Ritis on the defensive line; Sergio García, Fabricio Diaz and Franco González in the middle; and Renzo Sánchez, Alvaro Rodriguez and Luciano Rodríguez in attack.
For their part, those chosen by Héctor Cárdenas took to the field of play with a 4-5-1 scheme with Luis Miguel Marquines under the three sticks; Édier Ocampo, Kevin Mantilla, Fernando Álvarez and Andrés Salazar in defense; Juan Castilla, Jhon Vélez, Oscar Cortés, Gustavo Puerta and Alexis Castillo in midfield; and Ricardo Caraballo up front.
Cristián Garay was appointed as the main referee of the match in the Campín.
On the following day, Uruguay will play at home against Ecuador and Colombia will play at home against Paraguay.
