WAshington has listed the Iran-backed group as a terrorist organization and has imposed sanctions on members, associates and affiliated companies and charities.

The 13 domains of websites seized include several domains for the television of the al-Manar group, linked to the Islamist group Hezbolla), as well as URLs (electronic address that allows the website or blog to be found on the net) of the deputy secretary general Naim Kassem and senior officials Ibrahim al-Sayed and Ali Damush, and affiliated charities such as the Martyrs Foundation and the Emdad Committee for Islamic Charity.

The sites are no longer accessible, with only an image of the US authorities announcing that they now own the domain name. But the main address of Al-Manar, a Lebanese domain, is still in operation, according to the Associated Press.

“This bust demonstrates the FBI’s persistence in using all of our tools to hold terrorists and their affiliates accountable when they violate US law,” FBI Counterterrorism Division Assistant Director Robert R. Wells said in a statement.

“The FBI, along with our international partners, will continue to pursue individuals who contribute to the advancement of Lebanese Hezbollah’s evil activities and ensure that they are brought to justice, regardless of where or how they try to hide,” he added.
