The United States Coast Guard repatriated to Cuba on Wednesday 10 rafters who were intercepted off the coast of Florida.
In a statement posted on Twitter, the Coast Guard specified that the return of the Cubans occurred after several interdictions last week in which the vessels were sighted by US authorities.
The agents warned that they are patrolling the coasts to prevent illegal maritime migration.
With the repatriation of these 10 migrants, they are already 96 returns operations registered in 2023, either by air or sea. In total, from January to date, 4,210 Cubans have been deported to Cuba.
The Cuban migration crisis continues to be a challenge. In June alone, 10,885 Cuban immigrants arrived at US border points, most by sea.
The Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported that 6,630 entered through the Miami sector, which represents an increase of 16% compared to May.
The USCG recently reiterated on Twitter that everyone who is detained in territorial maritime zones will be returned to their country of origin, for which reason it suggested that migrants not undergo a sea journey.
