US inductive charging technology provider HEVO has announced a partnership with Stellantis. The merger of PSA and FCA wants to start wireless charging for Stellantis electric vehicles.

HEVO appears to be relatively new, but has been working on wireless charging for electric vehicles since 2011. Still, the Stellantis deal is the largest yet and is already in the works. First, HEVO and Stellantis will this year demonstrate the ability to charge a Chrysler Pacifica PHEV without plugging it in. They also mentioned a 50 kW wireless fast charging project, but didn’t elaborate.

HEVO claims its technology has a 95% efficiency rating (third-party certification) and is compliant with SAE and UL standards for wireless charging. Their name is an acronym for Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Optimization, reflecting the company’s values of honesty, empathy, foresight and optimism.

Formed in 2021, Stellantis will merge Groupe PSA’s Peugeot, Citroen, DS Automobiles, Opel and Vauxhall brands with FCA’s Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Jeep, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Maserati . Vic Peltola, HEVO’s chief commercial officer, said on the deal that they were “energized by the commitment of Stellantis” and highlighted a diverse product lineup. A demonstration project with Stellantis will demonstrate Level 2 wireless charging for a Chrysler Pacifica PHEV inside the company’s Auburn Hills, Michigan office complex.

HEVO is headquartered in Brooklyn, New York City. Other deals include a contract to provide more than 100 wireless electric vehicle charging stations to charge vans that Dollaride rents out and hails in New York. The project is funded by the Clean Transportation Access Program (CTAP). HEVO says 120,000 commuters a day rely on the Dollar Van network to connect them to New York City’s public transportation hubs. A $10 million CTAP award will fund the electrification of these fleets, including HEVO charging infrastructure.

In December, HEVO also entered into a partnership with Australian right-hand drive vehicle remanufacturer AUSEV. The two companies will demonstrate wireless charging technology in the Australian market.
