VfB Stuttgart are about to sign Gil Dias. As reported by ‘Sky’, the 26-year-old winger was no longer in Benfica’s team training yesterday, Sunday. The medical check at the Swabians is imminent. There is agreement between the clubs.
A few days ago, the Portuguese sports newspaper ‘Record’ reported on a possible transfer to Stuttgart. Dias has not played at all with Benfica this season, only playing eleven minutes in two brief appearances.
It is unclear how the approaching obligation will affect Luca Waldschmidt’s personnel. The 26-year-old VfL Wolfsburg striker was linked with Stuttgart yesterday, Sunday. The ‘Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung’ reported that a loan is in the pipeline. Not excluded that both Waldschmidt and Dias come, after all the latter Portuguese is a pure winger, while the seven-time German international can be used more flexibly.
Will Haraguchi get clearance?
Meanwhile, Genki Haraguchi was a candidate for the VfB midfield. Sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth recently confirmed to ‘DAZN’: “Haraguchi could become an issue. Whether that’s a possibility for us will be seen in three days.”
According to ‘Sky’, however, the transfer of the 31-year-old Japanese threatens to fall through. The reason for this is the injury of András Schäfer, who will be absent from Union Berlin in the near future. Since the Irons do not want to thin out their squad in midfield too much, Haraguchi could be denied the release.
