The singer, whose latest single By choice or by chance was released in December 2022, succeeds Belgian artist Stromae. This 38th ceremony will be held on February 10 at the Seine Musicale in Paris.

After Stromae, it is Calogero’s turn to take on the role of honorary president of the Victoires de la Musique, as the organizers of the ceremony announced on Friday.

The singer, whose last album Downtown was released in 2020, had himself been awarded the prize for best original song of the year in 2015 for his hit One day in the wrong place, inspired by the murder of two young people in Echirolles.

Author, composer, performing musician, Calogero marked the French music scene with titles such as in weightlessness (2002), If only I could miss him (2004), Apple C (2007) or even I play music (2017). His latest single, By choice or by chancewas released in December 2022.

Stromae and Angèle favorites

The Victoires de la Musique ceremony will be held on February 10 at La Seine Musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt. It will be presented by Laury Thilleman and broadcast live on France 2 and France Inter from 9:10 p.m.

Stromae and Angèle are the big favorites of this 38th edition, named respectively in four and three categories including best artist (male and female) and best album, for their projects Multitude and Ninety-five in a row.

Bigflo and Oli as well as the trio Grand Corps Malade, Ben Mazué and Gael Faye are also nominated in the category of male artist of the year. On the female artist side, Angèle will face the singers Izïa and Pomme.
