Mexico City.- In Paris, clashes are taking place between the Kurdish population and the Police after a shooting in the 10th arrondissement of the French capital that has left 3 people dead and another three injured.

The clashes broke out minutes after the intervention of the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, at the scene of the shooting. The shooter “obviously wanted to target foreigners,” he said, adding that he “apparently” was acting alone.

The shots came after a 69-year-old man opened fire this Friday near a Kurdish center located at Rue de Enghien, a central street in Paris. The suspect of French nationality, who was also injured “particularly in the face”, has been arrested and the Parisian prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation on charges of murder, manslaughter and aggravated violence.

The motives of the attacker, who had previously been arrested for two attempted murders, in 2016 and 2021, are still unknown.

For its part, the Kurdish Democratic Council in France (CDK-F) condemned “this infamous terrorist attack that occurs after multiple threats from Turkey, an ally of Daesh” and has called for a night vigil “to protest against this terrorist attack and render tribute to the murdered Kurdish militants”, collect local media.

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his solidarity with the victims of the attack. “The Kurds of France were the target of a heinous attack in the heart of Paris.
